swim

I love swimming and have loved coaching swimming since my teens.  I had the opportunity to work with a swimmer last week who has been coming to my swim training sessions for months.  She was looking for some personalized attention to improve her form and see more gains in her swimming.  We met for an hour and by the end of our time together, I was dancing on air.

Literally, I was clapping on the pool deck as I watched her swim technique progress.  We broke down her freestyle into her reach and rotation, her catch and finish and finally her breathing.  I video taped her swimming so I could show her some of the things I saw, because invariably, seeing yourself swim changes your perception of your stroke.  What ended up happening though, is that we chronicled huge changes to her swimming.

Not only was I feeling so happy for this particular swimmer, but it was just one of those reminders that I absolutely love what I do. I am so grateful that I get to be part of this kind of transformation and look forward to working together again.
