Years ago, I was a mentor for the SheRox racing series and that experience literally changed the course of my life. Through that experience, I was inspired to make a career shift. The way I felt about myself and the way I felt about helping others achieve their goals was something I wanted more of in my life, and thus began my coaching career.

Being part of an all-women’s event was important to me.  I think that there are barriers to women wanting to take on triathlon and finding a non-intimidating group of people to train with shouldn’t be one of them. A big part of what I wanted to do with my women’s team is find a way to allow more experienced athletes to give back and help those just starting out.  Of course, this happens just by the very nature of having group workouts but I wanted to find opportunities to deepen that engagement.

So without further ado, I want to announce that starting in April, 3 women will be the first WAVES mentors and help lead workouts, offer help and encouragement to other WAVES athletes.  These mentors are seasoned athletes: sprint, Olympic, 70.3 and 140.6 finishers, marathoners, active members in our running, cycling and triathlon communities.  What’s more, they are real people trying like the rest of us to train and race in the midst of all the other things life has going on.  I’m exited honored to have them representing WAVES.  Welcome Suki, Denise and Rachel.  You are about to change lives.
